10. Indiana
Despite being number ten on the list, Indiana still has a strong start as it comes down to around $2,000 cheaper than the imposed budget of $45,000! Yes, you read that right. The annual expenditures that retirees have been spending in Indiana are less than $45,000, which is more than reasonable and gives you an impression of the budget that the rest of the list will show (it only goes down from here)!
When we look at all the costs individually, none of them are going to break the bank, and they are fairly reasonable: housing came in at $7,800, with utilities coming in at $3,800!
And before you write it off completely in favor of maybe another state on our list, keep in mind that the cost of living index is 90.6! If you’re already a resident of this state, you are one of the lucky ones that do not have to relocate to be able to stretch your savings.
