3. Leander, Texas

Do you want to live in a cozy small town that isn’t too far from the big city? Then you must check out Leander, Texas. The best part? The cost of living is 10% lower than the national average, so hello, savings, my old friend!

Even though rent is pricier than in other parts of the country, you’ll love that energy bills, gas, mortgages, and even medical expenses are cheaper than in other American cities.

If you want to maintain your social life, you’ll love Leander’s events and entertainment options, such as river cruises, museum visits, hikes, and wine tasting, among others. And if you ever get bored and prefer to go somewhere more “alive,” Austin is only 20 miles away.
