Top 8 Worst Cities For Retirement

Memphis, Tennessee

At first, I didn’t expect to see Memphis on the list. However, it seems that the home of blues, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll is simply not enough for a peaceful retirement. In fact, many retirees wouldn’t move here, even if it were the last thing they’d do.

The city ranked 4th as the most dangerous city in the United States, with more than 20 violent crimes per 1,000 people. And it gets worse: Memphis is well known for its severe thunderstorms and is known to be continually hit by tornadoes.

Not to mention that healthcare in Tennessee is almost nonexistent. Given the shortage of federal funding, the number of hospitals in the state has been reduced in the last couple of years. No wonder this location is considered one of the worst places to move for retirees!

  1. The only thing in this article thats true about Memphis is that it is a dangerous place. There are some outstanding hospitals in Memphis. Storms in Memphis are no worse than almost any southern city. Whoever wrote this article doesn’t like Memphis
