Top 8 Worst Cities For Retirement

Juneau, Alaska

This is definitely one of those times when you shouldn’t be fooled by the luxurious wildlife, exciting fishing opportunities, or picturesque scenery.

Many would say that retiring in Alaska is definitely an interesting lifestyle, but it’s definitely not for everyone. First, there is absolutely no sales tax in this state, so the capital city of Juneau has an extremely high cost of living. In any shape or form, this is simply bad news for retirees.

Just like in Hawaii, the majority of items need to be flown from across the country, which will hike the prices even more. Another important issue is that healthcare in Juneau is really expensive, which automatically forces people to fly to Seattle just to save a couple of bucks on any non-emergency medical procedure. Given all this, can you really blame the fact that no one wants to retire there?

  1. The only thing in this article thats true about Memphis is that it is a dangerous place. There are some outstanding hospitals in Memphis. Storms in Memphis are no worse than almost any southern city. Whoever wrote this article doesn’t like Memphis
